Growing Pain In Preschoolers

Have you experienced pain after hitting the gym? Well, if you notice your kid playing you might see they too experience pain occasionally. Most growing kids, especially aging between 3 years to 5 years complain of pains and aches. Almost all kids experience such growing pain. Since kids grow at a very fast rate, their muscles also develop with every new skill. It seems your kid has gained a few inches overnight.

Dealing with growing pains in preschoolers can be challenging, especially at night when your kid is unable to sleep due to constant aches and pains. Interestingly, the term growing pain is quite misleading. This is because there is no evidence that the pain is caused due to growing. Even though the experts don’t know what exactly causes the pain, but they claim that it occurs after the kid has quite an active day.

You need to remember that growing pain in kids isn’t a sign that your kid is doing something wrong or needs to stop. This is a normal occurrence and every healthy kid faces it. Almost 25 percent to 40 percent of kids experience growing pain. Also, such growing pain is more common in girls than in boys. Wondering how to tell if it is growing pain or something else? Well, this might be a bit tricky. Growing pains usually last for about 10 minutes to 15 minutes. The pain is felt deep inside the muscles and not in the joints.

Growing pain also doesn’t cause chills, fever, swelling, limping, etc. If your kid has a fever or suffers from joint pain, you need to consult a doctor immediately. There are several ways to deal with growing pains in kids. You need to provide regular chiropractic care since an expert might help relieve or prevent the growing pain. Above all, if your kid spends most of the time playing outside, there might be chances of misalignments as it can affect the nerves. Acupuncture treatment is also helpful in treating growing pain. Even though you might shiver at the thought of needles, the tiny needles don’t cause pain. Ensure your kid stays hydrated throughout the day as lack of water in the body results in muscle cramping and pains.
