Depression during Pregnancy

Are you waking up sad and spending the entire day being sad? Depression during pregnancy is caused due to crazy hormonal activities! The depressive mood can be overcome by getting engaged in different activities. When you are engaged in work you forget about your misery. Get yourself engaged in various things which might include home decor, painting, watching movies or doing something new. The pleasure of achieving something new overcomes the distress of depression.

•    Exercise plays an important role in treating depression during pregnancy. It keeps the body physically and mentally fit and provides recreation and mental relaxation. Exercise produces chemical that improves your mental health. It changes the level of hormones in the blood and elevates your beta endorphins (mood affecting brain chemicals). Exercise also improves the functions of the nervous system.

•    Light therapy- Sunlight, bright light can help uplifting your mood. Staying in the sun or in front of bright light for 30 minutes can soothe your mind. Just sit in front of the window facing the sun and see how your mood gets improved.

•    Spend some time in nature-15 minutes of fresh air can create magic. Take a brisk walk in the nature for better sleep and mind refreshment.
